Advanced Process Control Engineer

Job Title: Advanced Process Control Engineer

Division: Weir Division

Location: Remote, Sweden

Purpose of Role:

Join our team as an Advanced Process Control Engineer, leveraging our mining industry expertise to build intelligent solutions. You'll develop, validate, and implement advanced process models and data-driven strategies to enhance mining plant efficiency, safety, and productivity. Collaborate with data scientists, process engineers, and stakeholders, reporting to the Head of Process Optimisation Technology. Engage with cloud architecture teams and product managers, with occasional site visits for critical investigations and deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment and Process modelling ownership.Develop and maintain dynamic simulation framework to be fully compatible with AI training and QA requirements.Ownership of control strategies layer for QA environment.Identify technology trends for advanced process and machine control by different vendors.Actively support plant data analysis to identify opportunities for process optimization.    Identify trends and patterns in data and be able to use analytics to better understand the data we have in order to make data-driven decisions.Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, preferably Chemical, Metallurgic, Electronics, or Control Systems Engineering.Demonstrates prior experience in automation and process control in mining and metals sectors, including PLC/DCS programming.Experience with advanced process control solutions for mining sites in DCS or APC systems.Understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI, ML/DL, cognitive solutions, and digital twins.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in Agile development methodologies.Home/office-based with potential for international travel and flexibility for non-standard hours.
