Job Summary: Juniper Networks is seeking a dedicated, skilled, and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Advanced Service Engineer. This role involves providing expert review of customer network software requirements, assessing software upgrade risks, analyzing the potential impact on customers' networks, recommending optimal software releases, and conducting an in-depth analysis of software defects found in the field, determining potential impacts and risks on our customer networks, and providing comprehensive reports tailored to each customer's hardware, software, and feature deployment. a.k.a. Bug Scrub.

Key Responsibilities

Software Upgrade Requirements Assessment:

Review and assess current Juniper software, hardware, and feature requirements provided by customers. Determine targeted software releases based on existing hardware, feature usage, future requirements, performance, high availability needs, and previous problem resolutions. Assess the latest network infrastructure design or service changes.

Target Software Release Analysis:

Analyze targeted software releases to determine their potential impact on customers' networks. Review and provide details on additional software features, default behaviors, and syntax changes in target releases. Provide information on software defects that match the target release and customers' network profiles, including problem descriptions, impacts, known triggers, and proposed solutions or workarounds. Conduct in-depth analysis of software defects and assess their potential impact on the network, categorizing them as critical, major, minor, or none based on customers' specific business and networking requirements. Assess the exposure probability of identified defects and recommend actions to avoid potential problems.

Software Upgrade Recommendation:

Provide comprehensive recommendations on Juniper software upgrades based on target software release analysis. Deliver consolidated reports on software upgrade assessments, target software analysis, and identify recommended changes and improvements.

Defect Analysis:

Analyze network software defects that match the customer's deployed network profile. Determine the potential impact level of each defect (Critical, Major, Minor, None) based on the customer’s specific business and networking requirements. Provide detailed analysis reports, including problem description, impact, known triggers, methods and procedures for verification, resolution status, and proposed solutions or workarounds.

Service Delivery:

Ensure service deliverables are provided remotely from authorized Juniper locations in Japan. Deliver all service outputs in Japanese unless specified otherwise. Adhere to service delivery hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., local time, Monday through Friday, excluding Juniper-observed holidays.

Customer Interaction:

Work closely with customers to gather required information, network access, consents, and materials to enable efficient service performance. Participate in scheduled meetings with customers to present the contents of deliverables. Provide support and insights in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Native Japanese language speaking and writing is required. Strong knowledge of Juniper Networks software and hardware products. Experience in network infrastructure design and software development processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively. Presentation skills to clearly explain the issue.

Preferred Experience:

Prior experience working for a minimum of 5 years in the telecommunication industry involving either network design, network software development, deployment, or technical support with hands-on troubleshooting for large-scale and complex IP-based networks. In-depth, demonstrated architecture knowledge of protocols service providers & Enterprise networks at both network and system levels. Familiarity with software defect analysis and risk assessment.

Additional Information:

This role may require occasional travel to customer's sites in Japan. The candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
