About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. The Advisor Business Integrity & Compliance Investigations PNG will be responsible for planning and conducting integrity and compliance investigations, as well as supporting the implementation of BI&C programs at the site. This role aims to promote adherence to and increase awareness of Newmont’s Code of Conduct, policies, and standards, including, but not limited to, the Anti-Corruption Standard, Gifts and Entertainment Standard, Conflicts of Interest Standard, U.S. Export Compliance Standard, and other relevant regional and site-specific requirements.
Essential Duties
The Advisor Business Integrity & Compliance Investigations PNG will spend 25% of their time executing the program activities and 75% focused on training and investigations and will be responsible for:
Plan and execute integrity and compliance investigations and audits at sites related to allegations of discrimination based on protected grounds, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, conflicts of interest, fraud and corruptionProvide input into continuous improvement of the internal investigation process /methodologyBuild and share the investigation report, findings and recommended actions with appropriate stakeholdersMaintain accurate and detailed records of all investigations. Circulate and share investigation findings to management/stakeholders and provide advice on corrective and disciplinary measures derived from the findings of investigations. Monitor trends, best practices and legislation impacting how workplace investigations are conducted for Papua New Guinea. Identify and share control gaps, process improvements and training needs as an outcome of investigationsTraining & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferredU.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the U.K. Bribery ActPapua New Guinea compliance rules and regulations.Investigation processes, interviewing techniques and proceduresCertified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent designations Formal certification in workplace investigationsFluency in English and Tok Pisin is preferredMS office skills and compliance systems knowledge and experienceWorking Conditions
This role is based in Lihir, and FIFO or Monday to Friday roster arrangements are to be considered for the right candidate. Travel to Port Moresby and other locations will be required. So, join us at Lihir and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our people and the success of our business!
