Advisor, Clinical Laboratory Quality - Anatomic Pathology/Cytopathology

Job Description

 

Advises on all quality control and regulatory requirements within the laboratory service line. Provides professional input in monitoring and documenting quality improvement activities for organization laboratories. 

Job Responsibility

 

• Provides strategic advice and guidance as it relates to laboratory quality and regulation to leadership
• As an advanced subject matter expert, works at very high levels in laboratory regulatory and quality
• Regularly provides technical guidance to others in the use of new technologies, theories, concepts and techniques
• Serves as project/technical lead on small to medium sized projects
• Advises on quality programs, systems, processes and procedures.
• Ensures that the performance and quality of laboratory services conform to established regulatory and accreditation requirements across all service line laboratories and affiliate laboratory programs. 
• Oversees internal and external audit programs and resolution of audit and inspection findings, including: New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) inspections, including internal and external proficiency testing program and other related programs.
• Ensures compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements including: CA, MD, NJ, PA & RI permits and regulations with advanced subject knowledge. 
•Advises on one or more areas, programs or functions within the laboratory and provides recommendations for performance improvement plans and quality monitors to service line leadership

Job Qualification

 

•   Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
•   Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Pathologists' Assistant or Cytotechnologist license in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
•   10 years of technical experience and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
