Job Summary:
Belcan is expanding its 1099 consultant network to support aerospace suppliers and OEMs across various disciplines, including Supplier Development, Forgings & Castings, Materials Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain Management.
This project-based role is ideal for seasoned professionals who can deploy to supplier sites, assess manufacturing readiness, and drive process improvements. Many projects focus on forging and casting suppliers, making experience in metallurgy, materials science, or supplier quality a strong advantage.
Consultants will work with suppliers, engineering teams, and program managers to troubleshoot production challenges, improve supplier performance, and ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities (Varies by Project & Discipline):
* Supplier Development & Quality
o Evaluate supplier performance, manufacturing processes, and readiness assessments.
o Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, quality escapes, and non-conformance issues.
o Support forging and casting suppliers in improving yield, material properties, and defect reduction.
o Drive compliance with AS9100, AS9145, PPAP, FAIRs, PFMEA, and other aerospace standards.
* Materials Engineering & Metallurgy
o Analyze forged and cast components, ensuring proper heat treatment, grain structure, and material integrity.
o Provide expertise in metallurgical properties, material failures, and corrective actions.
o Work with suppliers to optimize metal forming, machining, and finishing processes.
* Supply Chain & Manufacturing Process Optimization
o Assess and improve supplier production capabilities, capacity planning, and logistics.
o Conduct Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) initiatives to enhance efficiency.
o Develop and implement corrective action plans (CAPAs) to ensure production stability.
o Assist suppliers in meeting on-time delivery (OTD) and first-time quality (FTQ) targets.

Required Qualifications:
* 10+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, supplier development, materials engineering, or quality.
* Expertise in forging, casting, and/or metallurgical processes is a strong advantage.
* Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, AS9145, NADCAP, PPAP, FAIRs, etc.).
* Ability to troubleshoot supplier production issues, reduce defects, and improve process stability.
* Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers, and aerospace manufacturing environments.
* Ability to travel extensively (50%+ expected for on-site supplier support).
