About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose
Our Lihir operation in the HSE team is now recruiting for the position of Advisor – Health & Rehabilitation. Reporting to the Senior Advisor – Health & Hygiene, the successful candidate will be able to identify improvements and plan and implement an effective and efficient Occupational Health and Hygiene management system and its program initiative
The role will have the following responsibilities but are not limited to:Works by PNG Mine Safety Act, Newmont Safety System, Safety Policies and ProceduresEnvironment policies and all departmental operating proceduresManages conflict resolution utilizing appropriate processes and channels to resolve health issues arisingExposure and understanding of the use of health management systems and programsOversees health data management, analysis, and interpretationOversees work-related injury classification and return to work processManages the fit for work processesOversees the process of health and hygiene management system implementation, monitoring, and reviewSupports and implements health and hygiene system implementation activities to ensure the operation is productive with minimal impact on people who are exposed to occupational exposure risksEnsures compliance with all applicable laws and relevant industry standards of practiceEnsures continuous evaluation of the health and hygiene aspects of people and servicesEnsures continuous improvement of HSE management practicesQualification, Training & Experience
Minimum Degree in Health Sciences or relevant equivalent3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in the delivery of occupational health and Rehabilitation programs across large-scale mining operationsExposure and understanding of the use of health management systems and programsComputer proficiency in MS Office suiteSelf-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomouslyExcellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlinesStrong active listening & and interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & and trainingCertificate in Rehabilitation Coordinator or similar SAP Knowledgeable Working Conditions
Must be open to FIFO in PNGAbility to complete a pre-employment medical assessmentMust have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months
