Advisor - In Vivo Pharmacology

Position Summary

The in vivo pharmacology Advisor will participate in and contribute to the Genetic Therapy, Editing, and Nanomedicine in vivo pharmacology lab, to lead efforts to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines.

Responsibilities

Design and execute in vivo pharmacology experiments to characterize activity, distribution, and clearance of genetic medicines in rodent models, including immunocompromised animalsEstablish and manage Animal Care and Use Protocols in accordance with IACUC guidelinesCoordinate personnel, animals, and material for the execution of in vivo experiments across multiple groups and disciplines, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of deliverablesActively mentor and develop in vivo lab associatesOversee data analysis, result interpretation, and communication to internal stakeholders and ensure accurate recordkeepingPrioritize projects and allocate workload accordingly to ensure appropriate resourcing to meet personnel and project needsEffectively collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure translation from discovery to development and to drive innovation

Basic Qualifications

PhD in life sciences (e.g., neuroscience, biology, or related discipline)1+ years of relevant in vivo work experience in an academic or industry setting; industry experience is preferred). 

Additional Skills/Preferences

Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (IV, SC, IP, PO, ICV, ICM, IT, etc.), and collecting tissues / fluidsWorking knowledge in molecular biology endpoints, such as ELISAs, WB, and qPCRStrong attention to detail, with sufficient agility to link day-to-day experiments with strategic plansPassion, knowledge, and experience in neuroscience, cardiometabolic, or rare disease researchCandidates with experience doing microdissection, micro-surgery, or stereotaxic surgery are strongly preferredPrior experience in AAV and / or non-viral nanocarrierStrong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focusStrong inter-personal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partnersExcellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, maintain detailed documentation, and prioritize work on multiple projectsKnowledge of GDP and experience with LIMS
