PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This business transformation position warrants a manager or Asst Director designation due to its strategic importance in evolving CPKC's existing $40M maintenance operations across North America. The role requires both strategic vision and tactical execution while combining P&L ownership, international leadership, and enterprise-wide transformation, to evolve and transform an industry-leading maintenance network. This position’s decisions are expected impact millions in cumulative savings over 5 years, the potential creation of new revenue streams, and the development of a 3–8-person team across multiple locations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
+ Build the inventory framework and the user interface foundation that supports yard by yard rollout
+ Develop a strategic M&R insourcing roadmap balancing risk, scope and operational savings while prioritizing yard implementations
+ Direct and implement inventory management best practices and procedures to optimize inventory levels and prevent stockouts or excess inventory
+ Oversee material issuing, cycle counts, goods receipt through work orders, master data maintenance, critical parts lists, and min/max ordering triggers
+ Future team head count of 3-7 people to ensure to ensure adherence to best in class processes and controls
+ Develop and direct a core list of various new suppliers with the national coverage to support future inventory supply in all of North America
+ Lead and/or participate in efforts to provide material cost and labor inputs for insourcing proposal efforts
+ Project management of all insourcing activity deliverables
+ Review, consolidate and optimize all IMS invoicing activities to ensure policy compliance and timely/accurate cost accounting in various CPKC systems (VIM/Ariba/SAP/IMRS/IDCS)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor Degree
+ Rail industry experience or strong transportation/logistics background
+ 10+ years of experience in operations or supply chain management
+ System and process design and/or implementation
+ Experience with change management principles
+ Strong presentation and executive communication skills
+ Background in maintenance and reliability engineering
+ Experience with ROI tracking and business case development
+ Strong data analysis, problem solving, presentation and executive communication skills
+ Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Ariba) required
+ Proficiency in French and Spanish to support North American operations is an asset
+ Strong financial and business acumen

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
