Arts & Science is seeking a talented Advisor to join the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. This individual will advise prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students of requirements, course choices, scheduling and registration. Provide administration of departmental awards and support assessments for curricular development. Provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate journalism students to engage with the Institute. Opportunities would include, but are not limited to, matching students with journalism alumni and maintaining an active mentorship program throughout the year. Oversee the undergraduate and graduate degree completion processes, facilitating smooth transitions for both incoming and graduating students. Maintain database of undergraduate and graduate student advisement. Oversee additional projects related to undergraduate and graduate student matters at the request of the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Graduate Studies, and the Director of Administration.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience advising on program or service options and planning various activities and events.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in a higher education environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to provide advice, problem solve, and interact with individuals at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills, with attention to detail. Familiarity with Microsoft Word processing, Excel spreadsheet and Access database software.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $67,500.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
