Aeroderivative Engineering Lean Leader
Job Description SummaryThis role is responsible for developing and leading the cultural adoption of Lean principles and techniques to the Aeroderivative Engineering (AE) organization in alignment with our broader Gas Power Engineering process improvement initiatives. Specifically, the Lean leader will partner closely with the Gas Power Engineering Value Stream Leaders and AE staff managers to identify a continuous improvement strategy/playbook, prioritize Kaizen events and facilitate/manage the improvements. The Lean leader will also coach/mentor AE functional teams to embrace standard work and incorporate daily management into their organizations while facilitating and coaching local process improvements (kaizens, PSR, 5S, etc).

Responsibilities

Act as the GM staff Partner and lean coach supporting the AE process owner(s) to help develop the process design strategy and prioritize improvements.Define and oversee the portfolio of kaizens (target 6-12 per year) and lean projects to address GM sponsored process improvements tied to Gas Power Engineering priorities and aligned with GP Engineering value stream improvement strategies.Clarify & update progress on budgetary needs, timing, resource demand & results from the Aeroderivative Engineering process improvement efforts per the defined GPE Lean standard work.Facilitate the timely execution of the AE improvement projects & kaizens throughout the year following the GP Engineering Lean standard work.Coordinate monthly operating reviews with the AE Operations Leader to gauge performance of the AE internal processes with regard to Safety, Quality, Delivery & CostDetermine need for PSRs based on current trend analysis of process KPIs and known AE issues pertaining to the broader Gas Power Engineering value streams.Facilitate completion of the PSRs (target 1-3 per quarter) in a timely manner following the GP Engineering Lean standard work.Promote a culture of “Lean Thinking” among the Engineering People Leaders focused on Servant Leadership, Customer Focus and Employee EmpowermentBroaden the application of problem solving and continuous improvement tools for the AE organization to improve efficiency, capacity and process reliability.Celebrate and share Engineering application of Lean principles and techniques within the AE organization and across the Gas Power Engineering value streams to recognize success and leverage lessons learned.Develop expertise and experience in the applicable Lean models, concepts and tools across the AE organization.Facilitate and ensure the linkage of Lean improvements to real financial impact;Drive the necessary process standardization/harmonization within the AE organization to enable one integrated & streamlined Gas Power Engineering team.Practice and enable PDCA by providing critical feedback to the Gas Power Engineering Lean Team on the implementation strategy effectiveness. Collaborate and develop strategy in lock-step with VSL Lean Leaders, ensuring a unified approach

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum 8 years of progressive experience in successfully managing programs/projects or driving continuous improvement initiatives.3-5 years of Proven track record of indirect or direct people leadership experience

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $127,900.00 - 213,100.00 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. This position will stay open on the career website until at least Oct 8th.
