Credence has an immediate opening for an experienced Aerospace Engineer who will be primarily responsible for supporting Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC)/LP at Tinker Air Force Base, OK.
The AFLCMC Propulsion Directorate, AFLCMC/LP, has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for developing, acquiring, testing, fielding, sustaining and modernizing leading edge propulsion systems through the life cycle management for the United States (US) war-fighter and international partners. In order to meet current and projected workload requirements in support of propulsion, the Government must augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities at AFLCMC/LP with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support.
AFLCMC/LP is headquartered at Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) with units located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). The LP Directorate is currently comprised of three Divisions: Propulsion Acquisition Division (AFLCMC/LPA), Propulsion Sustainment Division (AFLCMC/LPS), and Propulsion Integration Division (AFLCMC/LPZ). As part of AFLCMC, the Propulsion Directorate was created to re-establish the vital, United States Air Force (USAF)-wide management of propulsion engines across the enterprise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below Accomplish engineering tasks necessary to support management operations functions within AFLCMC/LP, applying expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies. Supply systems engineering processes to aeronautical propulsion systems. Utilize a broad understanding of aeronautical propulsion engineering disciplines, evaluate and manage risks, requirements, functional / physical architectures, and interfaces to develop, produce, and sustain propulsion systems. Conduct interdisciplinary evaluation and shall validate of critical factors including mechanical design, structural dynamics, aerodynamics, heat transfer, combustion, material science, system integration, and testing in order to meet aeronautical propulsion system requirements.Apply propulsion system integrity principles to establish and maintain Operational Safety, Suitability and Effectiveness (OSS&E) of fielded systems. Provide technical expertise for systems engineering that integrates technical processes to define and balance system performance, cost, schedule, risk, and human systems integration within a family-of-systems and systems-of-systems context. Embed systems integration engineering in program planning and be designed to support the entire acquisition life cycle. Manage technical requirements for aeronautical propulsion systems in sustainment.Ensure sustainment activities are effective and economical. Identify and resolve propulsion supportability and reliability issues that may impact the weapon system. Provide a working knowledge of propulsion system development.Assess development documentation to uncover deficiencies or shortcomings including but not limited to test plans/reports, test and evaluation master plans, system specifications, SOWs, and system designs.Use computational tools, build models, and understand results. Understand, assess, and implement USAF airworthiness standards. Utilize standard engineering computational tools (i.e. MATLAB or equivalent) applied in technical areas, Weibull failure analysis techniques, and propulsion safety risk management processes. Apply sound quality practices to ensure a robust design and manufacturing processes that consistently result in products meeting design requirements. Assist the Government with the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of aerospace manufacturing processes (including the facilities, tooling, people, etc.) to efficiently and effectively produce products meeting design requirements. Provide accountability and discipline to the systems engineering process by establishing and maintaining key technical management activities throughout a program’s life cycle. The key technical management activities include configuration identification, configuration status accounting, configuration control, verification/audits and data management. Apply policies, requirements, systems, and procedures for the definition, establishment, verification and control of technical product data (also known as engineering data). Support translation of user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystem and equipment for eventual fielding and deployment. Perform technical / mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and perform technological / trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications. Assist contracting personnel by performing technical evaluations of contractor proposal submissions prior to placing engineering changes on contract. Assist, review, and provide recommendations for AFIs and other policy documents as required.
