Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Engineer (Aerodynamics/CAD Modeling) for the SEMATS3 Contract, supporting the Air Force Division.
An engineer is being sought to perform CAD modeling, design, and technical drawing review within the USAF SEEK EAGLE organization. Responsibilities will be focused on sophisticated wind tunnel systems with reconfigurable aircraft models, complex components, and innovative support mechanisms compatible with a wide range of inventory and development weapon models; and components constructed using multiple advanced manufacturing processes.
The engineer will participate in a working environment focused on the evaluation of aircraft compatibility with a wide variety of external and internal stores necessary to conduct the range of USAF operational and test missions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 7 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 6-9 months.Experience with established CAD modeling software (NX preferred).Experience with technical drawing preparation and checking (ASME Y14.5 preferred).General engineering experience including familiarity with modeling & simulation.Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.Excellent attention to detail.Strong analytical and organizational skills.Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.Ability to travel using commercial airlines is required to support professional obligations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.Experience in aerodynamic analysis and design, preferably in aerospace industryExperience with established industry finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., PATRAN/NASTRAN) is a plus. Experience performing structural analysis hand calculations.Knowledge of aircraft, air-launched weapons, and aircraft suspension equipment.Experience operating in LINUX/UNIX environments using scripting languages (Python, PERL, etc.).
