We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Machinist at our Western Pneumatic Tube Co location in Kirkland, WA.  At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions.  How high are our quality standards, you ask?  So much so, that we have products supporting space launch vehicles, as well as, US and European military fighter jets!  If you join our team, your work will ensure families across the world fly a little safer, wherever their travels may take them.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Machinist Helper?

Do you enjoy figuring out what makes a machine work? Can you tell when something needs adjustment to run its best? Do you seek to understand why something is built a certain way?

As a Maintenance Helper you will utilize your mechanical aptitude, maintenance experience and knowledge of equipment to and maintain and support the machinery, facilities, and fabrication processes at Western Pneumatic Tube Co.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform highly diversified duties in the support of production machine maintenance and the plant facility’s equipment

• Perform preventative maintenance on Manufacturing Equipment and tooling.

• Perform maintenance on Safety and facilities systems.

• Provide input and share technical expertise when needed.

• Support emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment when needed.

• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities under the direction of the Journeyman Machinists.

• Skills and experience desired include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of equipment and systems.

• Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints/drawings, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service and identify repair parts and maintenance schedules.

• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust.

• Perform a variety of basic plumbing maintenance and minor carpentry functions

• Use a variety of hand and power tools, test equipment and material handling equipment in performing duties

• Detect faulty operations, defective parts, etc., and report those and any unusual situations to proper Leads and Supervision

• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

• Perform all other duties as assigned or needed

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong mechanical ability

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Use of MS Office Suite and other Software

Ability to accomplish tasks and follow directions.

High School Diploma or equivalent and related experience

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

Ability to stand and bend for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to communicate accurately and clearly (both written and verbally)

Possess ability to lift 50 pounds at a time.

 

Things we consider a plus:

Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship certification

Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience

An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance

 

Salary

$38.23/hr per Union Contract 

 

Expected Hours of Work
We are currently hiring for day shift full-time


Day Shift: 6:00am- 2:30pm
Swing Shift: 2:30pm- 10:30pm
Night Shift: 10:30pm- 6:00am
