This Opportunity Due to our growing success, we are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dynamic Aerospace Software Engineer to join our team at our Colorado Springs, CO office location to support a key aerospace software development effort. The ideal candidate enjoys developing solutions to complex problems using software tools and scientific practices. They must be comfortable with a wide range of programming languages and eager to learn more. They should also be comfortable learning new scientific material to be the Subject Matter Expert for a team of software developers and scientists. One of the key attributes of the ideal candidate is the ability to understand the big picture as well as the details and be able to communicate them well to a large team. Your Impact Apply your knowledge to improve our ability to deliver quality data and products to the aerospace community by performing the following: Develop software to process and harmonize earth observation data, scientific model output, and satellite orbit data. Assist with the development of scientific processing code to better understand and model scientific phenomenon. Areas of expertise will include spacecraft orbits, spacecraft anomalies, ionospheric modeling, EMI attribution, radar, space weather, GNSS, and many more. Research and create any necessary scientific reference material and assist developers in coding new software application. Document the software in how it currently is, how it should be, and the details of how to implement it. Decompose aerospace/scientific software applications into detailed flows. Rearchitect and design applications to be more modular, efficient, and elegant. Collaborate with a large team using the Agile software development approach. Assist in Business Development activities such as writing proposals and conceptual design in collaboration with industry partners. Skills Knowledge of orbit dynamics and the space environment Software experience with a wide spread of languages (Python, Rust, C/C++, Fortran, Java, JavaScript/HTML) Cloud software experience (Azure, AWS, GCP) Software containerization experience Excellent technical writing ability Excellent communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite *This position will be located in either Colorado Springs, CO or Albuquerque, New Mexico. Qualifications Required BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2 Must BE ABLE TO OBTAIN and maintain a Secret clearance SEC+ cyber security certificate from CompTia or equivalent Certified AWS or Azure Cloud architect Preferred Masters’ Degree in Aerospace Engineering and 4+ year’s experience strongly preferred Broad space weather experience, spacecraft orbit software experience, GPS applications experience Experience using Kubernetes to orchestrate complex workflows and clusters Equal Pay Act This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
