Overview
The After School Program Director (ASPD) will manage the Salvation Army’s After School Program in Rockland County, including the Summer Day Camp.
Responsibilities
After School Program Management
+ Maintain certifications for the program with the state, local offices, and other governing agencies. This includes maintenance of all records, files, statistics and reporting to such agencies.
+ Ensure all regulations are being followed regarding licensing and certificates.
+ Provide and complete all required training required by governing agencies and The Salvation Army.
+ Ensure all staff have been provided and complete all necessary trainings needed by governing agencies and The Salvation Army.
+ Act as a liaison to governing agencies as directed by Corps Officers.
+ Maintain all program schedules, student records applications, registration forms, health documents, emergency contact information, and parental permission forms.
+ Receive and account for weekly student tuition payments including receipting each payment. All funds should be always kept safely.
+ Promote opportunities to create awareness for program participants to connect with other Corps programs.
+ Provide leadership to any student discipline issues including communicating with parents as problems arise.
+ Model behavior management practices that are consistent with Christian values and acceptable to The Salvation Army.
+ Organize classrooms ensuring program areas are clean and in good order.
+ Maintain program supplies making sure all classrooms and activities have adequate materials.
+ Supervise student activities including homework, recreation, snack, and other classroom activity.
+ Communicate with student teachers to problem solve learning difficulties and behavioral issues.
+ Plan and execute weekly devotions.
+ Recruit new students to the program to keep the program running at capacity.
+ Create and maintain effective communication methods with program families.
Summer Day Camp
+ Maintain certifications for Summer Day Camp with state, local officers, and other governing agencies.
+ Provide leadership and management to all aspects of the Summer Day Camp including recruitment, planning, program execution, and staff recruitment.
+ Plan, organize, and execute field trips.
Youth Ministry and Corps Programming
+ Assist in planning and execution of Corps youth ministry programs and special events.
+ Attend divisional and territorial events as assigned by the Corps Officers.
+ Attend Divisional training events as assigned.
General Office
+ Maintain good and accurate record keeping utilizing digital and paper filing systems.
+ Follow all Salvation Army Keep Safe policies.
+ Be the first point of contact for phone calls and visitors in our building or supervise volunteers who are assigned to the reception area.
+ Be an active part of The Salvation Army team in Spring Valley. This includes involvement in Corps events as requested, promoting other areas of our work, and promoting the mission of The Salvation Army.
+ Maintain clean work and program area space.
+ Attend staff meetings and trainings.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ Strong management, organizational, and supervisory skills.
+ Positive experience in working with children.
+ Ability to work independently and relate professions with other staff.
+ Above average communication skills
+ Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
+ Manage information in a confidential manner.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and have strong computer skills.
+ Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army
