Join our dynamic Inside Sales team as an intern, where you'll work on innovative projects that directly impact our aftermarket sales channels and operational efficiency. This internship is perfect for students pursuing degrees in Marketing, Business, Supply Chain, or Industrial Operations who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX. In an intern role within the Aftermarket Team, your core responsibilities could include project-based activities such as:
1. Within Aftermarket Sales Channel Development:
Ecommerce Platform Impact Analysis: Research and assess the potential impact of implementing a web-based communication and ecommerce order platform on our aftermarket sales channels. Conduct interviews and market research to understand current practices, evaluate their effectiveness, and propose a framework for a potential solution. Market Pricing Dynamics: Analyze parts market pricing within the cooling tower industry to recommend strategic price adjustments. Develop and conduct surveys and interviews with industry leaders to understand purchasing behaviors and competitive pricing strategies. Installed Base Program Development: Utilize the existing Marley Installed Base dataset to create a marketable program for customers. This project will require proficiency in Excel and data manipulation. Key aftermarket vertical market research and development: Using industry and market research, target key vertical markets with significant, but currently undeveloped, aftermarket service or parts opportunities. Develop a position paper that details the market status, impact and rigor required to pursue this market, and an initial action plan to pursue defined goals.
2. Operations and Supply Chain Vendor Analysis:
Aftermarket Vendor Capabilities Assessment: Research and evaluate aftermarket vendor capabilities, proposing a standardized communication practice to streamline information sharing with SPX stakeholders. ISR to Rep Communication Standard: Deep survey of market resell channels to understand needs and expectations. Determine and describe new standards derived from the investigation to enhance activity of the Marley ISR and Rep teams. Imbed in to the Marley Olathe Plant production cells, understand the operational aspects of aftermarket flow in those cells, and report results of this analysis to look for operational or resource efficiencies.

Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Supply Chain, Sales or Industrial Operations Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher High school diploma or GED required
Travel & Working Environment
Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Keyboarding/typing. Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy. Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.Our intern and co-op positions are paid, and we offer housing stipends for students who are not local to the Kansas City area.
