Agile Development - DevOps, Tech Lead (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office)

At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you’ll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

Position Overview:

Customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do in our portfolio. To help us build functional systems that improve customer experience we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer.

In this role, you will be part of System team and will be expected to
• Understand requirements and design for the build and deployment of enterprise applications
• Work independently to contribute to the success of assigned project(s)
• Collaborate with our shared services teams that support tools such as OpenShift, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, AWS platform and Enterprise Network teams.
• Determine and provide inputs for effort estimation
• Work with other teams to help break our monolith application and migrate to AWS
• Manage our environment footprint and provide solutions to better maintain our m/s

Your Impact:

Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure

Understanding the needs of developers / environment landscape

Working on ways to automate and enhance CI/CD processes

Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Proactive in identifying existing issues and providing an alternate solution

Curiosity to learn about new trends related to tools and technology

Seek and Embrace Change – Continuously improve work processes rather than accepting status quo

Delivers automated tools and pipeline for continuous integration and development (CI/CD), meeting demanding and challenging business needs in a controlled yet efficient and timely manner

Daily Responsibilities

Deploy updates and fixes delivered from the product teams

Provide Level 2 technical support

Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors/downtime and improve customer experience

Help perform root cause analysis through triage sessions with product teams for errors and resolve them.

Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

Automate repetitive tasks

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field

Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role

Proficient with git and git workflows

Good knowledge of Build Automation tools like Maven, Gradle, Npm.

Must be a Full stack developer with DevOps automation experience to think holistically in building a reliable, flexible, well performing system with completely automated delivery processes

Working knowledge of databases such as DB2, Postgres and Mongo

Problem-solving attitude

Collaborative team spirit

Experience working on Linux based infrastructure

Knowledge and understanding of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services

Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles

5 yrs+ experience of hands-on experience with Docker

7 yrs+ experience in developing CI/CD processes through Groovy, Ansible or similar

5 yrs+ experience developing solutions and managing environments that automate software deployment and configuration

5 yrs+ experience in infrastructure engineering for both non-production and production environments

8 - 10 years relevant professional experience

Expert in Operating System Platform Configuration, both Linux platforms (Red Hat) and Automated configuration management (Ansible)

Expert in High Availability techniques (failover and load balancing, and, business continuity – wide area resiliency)

Expert in scripting languages (Bash/Python)

Experience with DevOps tools (Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible/Chef & ServiceMesh) is strongly preferred

High level of exposure to testing frameworks like Junit, Cucumber & JMeter

Understanding/Working knowledge of ELK/Splunk/Kibana

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $154,000 - $230,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
