Agile Practices Leader

Purpose

This means data-enriched processes and real-time insights embedded across our value chain, design thinking and an “engineers of everything” mentality, and a world-class customer experience that sets us apart. We are also reimagining our ways of working to be more adaptable and flexible through agile principles and investing in skillset development and tools for a digital age. 

The vision for this role is to leverage your expertise in advancing agile practices at scale and coaching abilities to institutionalize Chubb’s operating model and enable leaders and teams to have a continuous improvement mindset.

 

Responsibilities

Manage a team of coaches, holding coaches accountable towards business outcomes. Ensure that coaches embrace accountability to deliver business value by tracking, executing, and communicating progress against relevant objectives, and remain synchronized with their team in that accountability  Manage and be a role model to the Agile Coaches. Own the engagement model for how coaches are deployed to and engage with teams and Domains to drive the operating model Evaluate coaches against pre-defined rubric Define blueprint to improve team maturity level across all elements of rubric Ensure coaches focus on execution Maintain strong ‘on-the-ground’ presence across teams-Domains in order to have sufficient support and oversight for all coaches Drive the criticality of ensuring backlogs for team’s map to business objectives and track delivery towards them Engage with senior leadership to foster active participation in team-Domain ceremonies and focusing on strategy and execution (e.g., pro-actively running the QBR process, problem-solving in leadership syncs) Support scale-up including recruiting and on-boarding of coaches Define coaching requirements, communicate, and recruit coaches  Maintain a standard approach for on-boarding  Coach and support the product owners, team members, and others in learning and living effective Agile practices, lead or facilitate Scrum ceremonies, facilitate gradual team adoption and independence through transparency, retrospectives, interventions, and adaptation Help drive the team to bring value forward leveraging a wide variety of techniques including business objectives, MVP mindsets, test and learn, dark launches and more.  Deeply understand the business and technical context in which your teams operate so that you can help them understand what solutions are more valuable than others and help deliver that value into customer’s hands efficiently and with high quality Drive the end-to-end solutions your teams are supporting.  This includes high quality technical solutions that are maintainable and scalable as well as robust business process guides to aide swift and efficient adoption of changes Remove impediments (e.g., cultural barriers, test data, solution integration, shift left testing, coordination with other teams) and foster close cooperation and communication across all team members, to ensure the teams are functional and productive Continuously seek to improve team velocity and performance by promoting joint accountability for results and solving blockers while coaching pods to raise and remove impediments on their own  Increase the overall agile maturity of the organization by nurturing agile practices and principles; instill Agile mindset in teams through conversations, coaching, and role playing Work with other members of the Agile practice to promote a Chubb agile culture, define the playbook while balancing the focus on people over process, and support the deployment of Chubb Agile playbook across the organization An individual who can negotiate and influence specific interventions without platitudes or generalities, citing specific positive impact of those interventions in a clear and compelling way  A capability to preserve positive outcomes while weighing the pragmatic realities of deadlines and constraints A role model who inspires others as an agile change champion; A resilient, realistic and empathetic leader who can equally command needed attention and share the spotlight to drive team engagement and success An adaptable and savvy communicator, with a command of various styles and with the ability to deliver constructive feedback-  Possesses managerial courage, with an ability to escalate issues to leadership Facilitator of teams and leaders in agile methodologies, and continuously finds opportunities to empower individuals in their roles, foster collective ownership, and unlock team performance  Creative with ideas on how to engage everyone, self-motivated to help the team reach their goals; willing to roll up your sleeves and execute alongside your peers  Experienced in software development accomplished through teams who deploy software in a multifaceted environment, coaching teams through engineering practices such as unit test automation, coding standards and automated deployment pipelines A fast learner of complex software ecosystems who can coach teams on how to develop production-ready products more quickly and efficiently  An ability to effectively assess situations and identify gaps vs. DevOps industry best practices; coaching the team to address the most important ones in thoughtful, actionable ways of measuring progress along the way   

Foundational Skills: 

Strong ability to inspire members and mobilize agile coaches that act as multipliers and foster agile mindset Ability to quickly identify leaders’ training needs, and address them through coaching (“train the trainer”) in inclusive training sessions Ability to encourage collaboration by involving others and sharing her or his experience and ideas with others to efficiently finds solutions, and put the Pod’s result above personal interests Ability to show empathy and able to put oneself in the other person's shoes and understand their personal and professional behaviors in order to make interaction with them as effective as possible Bring a high-energy and passionate outlook of the role and can influence those around them with different techniques Strong communication and presentation skills, coaching and teaching agile methodologies to teams and leaders, explaining the reason behind certain techniques, and encouraging team members to rely on each other

Technical Skills:

Experience in managing large number of teams, with good understanding of internal and external forces affecting financial institutions and insurance experience is a plus Track record of successful deliveries of Digital products with strong experience in modern software development practices     Experience scaling Agile across multiple programs and establishing governance mechanisms Able to identify and flag impediments related to test data, test environments, source code management and dependencies on applications within a solution ecosystem  Experience in Agile Development, with specific Agile Coaching experience, or scrum master experience Knowledge of multiple Agile techniques and software engineering excellence (e.g. XP, CI/CD, DevOps, Kanban, Scrum, Design Thinking, OKRs, continuous integration, continuous testing, continuous deployment)

Education:

Background in software delivery, technology, and/or digital product operations and delivery Agile coach or other agile certifications (CSM, ICE-AC, ICP-ACC, PSM I, PSM II, SAFe)
