Agriculture Field Assistant

What you will be doing:

This position will provide assistance to the Agricultural Scientist. Processing research samples, entering data, assisting in trial set-up and assisting in data collection.

Assist with plant phenology sampling project (collecting and classifying shoots on a weekly basis)Assist with herbicide screening trial and herbicide layering strategy trial (applying products to plots, assessing product effects, harvesting berries)Assist with canopy management research projects (assessing/measuring canopy characteristics, harvesting berries)Assist with varietal evaluation plots (harvesting berries)Assist with product residue plots (harvesting berries)Assist with inputting Pesticide Use Reports (PURs) during busy pre-harvest seasonData organization/managementCollect insect/disease/weed samples as needed throughout the season

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Horticulture/agriculture experience/education preferredCourse work in entomology, pathology, weed science, etc.Experience in laboratory or field research settingExperience in data collection and organizationAbility to read and understand scientific literatureAbility to navigate to field sitesAbility to work independently

Working Environment:

Terrain can be traverse and uneven. May need to be outside in adverse weather conditions.
