AGRICULTURIST

Our Agronomy team members will have primary responsibility of supporting the beet sugar production of approximately 9,000 acres. This is a full-time position, monitoring multiple growing seasons each year at a variety of farm locations within Imperial County. 

Essential Functions:

Measures and monitors quality control of product during seed receiving, seed preparation activities, planting, and harvesting. Complete test digs and soil samples to monitor moisture and estimate yields and size profiles Monitor and evaluate farming technique improvements, which includes soil moisture, pest management strategies, fertilization, and irrigation schedule Coordinate pest control, chemical application, and irrigation with farm managers to ensure optimal field yield Perform regular visits to farm locations and field experiments for observations to ensure data collection is accurate and update team when crop management plans need revisions Responsible for collecting field data for fertility management, reducing quality issues, and disease/pest management Assists in training farm personnel on crop observations, such as scouting for weeds, insects, and plant diseases Identify farming challenges and opportunities by implementing research projects Assists with selecting fertilizer and chemicals for crop application Assists with variety and other crop trials (i.e. seed spacing, fertility, etc.), which includes planning trials, collecting data, and preparing summary reports Prepare documentation showcasing best production practices to share with growers, stakeholders, and farm team members, as requested Maintain an advanced knowledge of company products, services, policies, and procedures Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Two (2) or more years experience working with farmers Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field (Preferred)
