Overview The Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) Mechanic Lead, with a minimum of 5-8 years of experience, is responsible for leading a team of skilled mechanics in the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of ground support equipment crucial to aviation operations. In addition to core responsibilities, this position incorporates specialized tasks such as troubleshooting, inspecting, and performing unit-level maintenance on specific AGSE, including the Aviation Ground Power Unit (AGPU), Generic Aircraft Nitrogen Generator (GANG), and Standard Aircraft Towing System (SATS). The AGSE Mechanic Lead also plays a vital role in training and mentoring MNG Soldiers on AGSE Maintenance, ensuring compliance with applicable Technical Manuals (TM). Moreover, this position is entrusted with sampling, processing, and evaluating AOAP samples submitted for AGSE equipment. Responsibilities Supervision and Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of AGSE Mechanics, providing guidance, training, and oversight. Allocate tasks, manage work schedules, and ensure adherence to safety and maintenance standards. Specialized AGSE Maintenance: Troubleshoot, inspect, and perform unit-level maintenance on specific AGSE, including AGPU, GANG, and SATS. Diagnose and repair assigned Diesel Engine Equipment, such as MHE, Wash Carts, and Power Generators. Training and Mentoring: Assist in the training and mentoring of MNG Soldiers enrolled in the GSE Maintenance OJT program. Ensure compliance with applicable Technical Manuals (TM) during training and maintenance activities. Quality Control and AOAP Sampling: Work within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards. Responsible for sampling, processing, and evaluating results of AOAP samples submitted for AGSE Equipment. Support Programs: Support the Airfield Foreign Object Debris program. Additional duties or tasks as directed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Military background with experience in aviation maintenance and logistics. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in aviation mechanics is preferred. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience as an AGSE Mechanic with demonstrated leadership skills. In-depth knowledge of AGSE, including AGPU, GANG, SATS, and Diesel Engine Equipment. - Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a military maintenance unit.
