AHA Community Instructor - Per Diem

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Under direction of the St Peter’s American Heart Association’s Training Center Coordinator the instructor will be responsible to present American Heart Association-approved class curriculum utilizing AHA requirements and criteria.  Document classes taught and complete other related paperwork in a timely manner. Attend renewal instructor education as needed or as approved and instruct classes as required.  Instructors will provide classes in one or more of the AHA Provider course disciplines First Aid, CPR/AED and Basic Care for the Healthcare Provider; Advanced Cardiac Life Support; Pediatric Advanced Life Support; Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

 Excellent idea to include NRP because of the potential of SPH needing to hire an instructor that is qualified outside the facility. NRP is sponsored by both American Heart Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE   Current certification as an American Heart Association Instructor is required in the discipline Instructor Candidates are seeking.  Healthcare background is required. Previous experience in instruction with the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people and impart course content successfully to a wide variety of students and experience levels is needed.  Instructors for ACLS, PALS and NRP courses need clinical experience enabling them to act as a clinical resource to course participants.  Instructors must be highly motivated and enthusiastic about teaching, be able to provide age/developmental-specific appropriate information.  High level of interpersonal skills needed to effectively coordinate programs for a variety of audiences and effectively represent the regional medical center to outside agencies and class participants. 

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred, and educational qualifications as required for the discipline-specific provider course instruction.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Valid Montana driver's license required. American Heart Association Instructor certification required. 

Aptitudes: *Must demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills regardless of situation encountered. Demonstrate organizational skills, and prioritization abilities to ensure delivery of optimum American Heart Association class *Demonstrate teamwork aptitude for high-quality classes. *Must show evidence of the ability to compile and complete accurate records as required by AHA.
