We are seeking a highly motivated and talented summer intern to join our Quantitative Pharmacology group within the Drug Safety and Pharmacology department for Summer 2025. The intern will focus on applying advanced AI/ML techniques, such as deep learning/neural networks or physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) for PKPD and mechanistic/QSP modeling for optimal dose and regimen selection in the clinical phases of drug development. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the cutting-edge field of pharmacology and drug development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and testing neural network and other AI/ML models, as appropriate.
- Developing and exploring the uses of deep learning/neural networks for PKPD/QSP modeling.
- Reading through relevant scientific literature on neural networks, PKPD/QSP modeling and drug development.
- Communicating methods and results to relevant stakeholders within the company.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Familiarity from hands-on coursework or research with deep learning/neural networks.
- Proficiency in implementing these techniques using programming languages such as Matlab, Python, R, Julia, or related. Python packages of familiarity may include: TensorFlow, PyTorch and Keras.
- Familiarity with other AI/ML techniques, such as random forest, NLP, and support vector machines (SVM) is welcomed.

Please note our intern pay ranges are determined by level of education (year in school) and degree program.
The hourly rate range is: $17.90-$50.90 per hour.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Masters or PhD degree (and be returning to school the semester following the internship). A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred. We want someone who is able to commit to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks from the end of May/ early June through August. Demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports, current or previous work, or within the community is also preferred.
