AI Research Scientist – Video, Audio, Wireless & Emerging Technologies

We are seeking a highly skilled AI Research Scientist with expertise in Quantum Computing to join our Emerging Technologies CoE team.

The Emerging Technologies Center of Excellence (CoE) within Nokia Technologies CTO organization focuses on creating foundational AI technologies, developing AI-driven solutions for our research labs, collaborating with startups and partners, and generating impactful intellectual property.

We are assembling a world-class team of AI researchers to drive innovation in next-generation computing, sensing, and beyond, while enhancing our core research areas, including video, audio, and wireless communications.

 You have:

Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, or a related field, with a focus on AI and Quantum Computing. Minimum of 5 years of industrial work experience after Ph.D., or equivalent industry exposure. Strong background in AI-driven wireless, video and audio technologies (e.g., video compression, enhancement, synthesis, immersive audio, and speech AI).  Experience with at least one major machine learning framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, etc.). Proficiency in multimodal AI techniques (e.g., combining video, speech, and text for interactive applications). Experience developing AI solutions for devices, optimizing models for on-device processing, latency-sensitive applications, and real-time inference. Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles and how AI can enhance creative and interactive media applications. Track record of publications in NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, or IEEE Transactions on Multimedia.  Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional research teams.

It would be nice if you also had:

Experience with video compression technologies (e.g., AV1, H.265, VVC). Knowledge of immersive audio technologies (e.g., spatial audio, 3D audio, AI-driven voice synthesis). Familiarity with wireless communication protocols and AI-driven optimizations. Strong foundation in information theory and coding techniques. Understanding of MLOps frameworks for scalable AI deployment. Experience optimizing AI models for GPU and CPU computing resources. Experience in AI-generated media & synthetic content (e.g., generative AI for video & audio). Prior experience in developing AI applications for hardware accelerators (TPUs, NPUs, FPGAs, etc.). Familiarity with standardization processes. Develop and optimize AI-driven solutions for video compression, enhancement, media generation, immersive audio, and communication technologies. Advance on-device AI processing, multimodal intelligence, and real-time AI-powered experiences. Apply AI techniques to enhance UX/UI and creative AI systems, improving how users interact with next-generation devices and media experiences. Conduct research on multimodal AI systems, working on AI that fuses video, speech, text, and interactive interfaces.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement AI-driven solutions that enhance our core research areas in wireless, audio and video. Engage with external partners to co-develop cutting-edge technologies and drive joint research initiatives. Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through patent filings and publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
