What you do:
Perform analysis, support research, allocation recommendations for fund and asset manager selection and oversight for alternative assets (private debt emphasis, private equity, Impact investments, real estate) within the AIM Capital Markets & Sourcing team as part of the broader AIM US Investment Management function. You will report into the AIM VP/AZL Dir II-Capital Markets. Areas of focus include:
• Asset class research and financial modeling for alternative assets with focus on private debt (direct senior lending, junior debt and opportunistic) with the perspective of relative value, capital efficiency and risk assessment for insurance balance sheet.
• Deep dives focused on fund collateral composition, credit subordination, stress testing, ratings migration trends, payment waterfalls and capital consumption under RBC and S&P capital models
• Providing regular asset class reports; support the preparation and sharing of investment narratives within AIM and external partners in collaboration with other investment management departments for agreement
• Work on asset manager selection and asset management oversight to assess performance and other KPIs for separate accounts and fund managers for the Allianz Life general account portfolio
• Collaborate with portfolio allocators on investment recommendations within alternative assets sub-sectors with view on SAA and portfolio fit, capital consumption, liquidity, and excess returns
• Support team and mentor junior professionals on manager selection, due diligence, legal document review and execution for new strategies
What you bring:
• Minimum 2+ years of investment experience at bank, insurance company or asset manager; demonstrated skills in alternative assets research and analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (story-telling ability with market and portfolio data) to support the growth of rated notes and alternative assets allocations
• Relevant investment systems experience for alternative assets modeling (Excel, Bloomberg, Aladdin etc.)
• 4yr degree required: accounting, finance, economics or related field
Preferred: enrollment / progress in CFA or MBA program
