Air Emissions/Toxic Release Inventory Specialist

About the position:

The Air Emissions and Toxic Release Inventory Reporting (TRI) Specialist is responsible for managing environmental compliance and reporting, analyzing air quality and toxic data, engaging with business functions, and audits, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. The Air Emissions and TRI specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with Environmental Protection Agencies TRI program under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). This role involves tracking, reporting, and managing chemical releases to help ensure environmental safety and regulatory compliance at multiple refineries within Chevron. The Air Emissions and TRI Reporting Specialist reports to the Environmental Team Lead in Chevron ENGINE in Bengaluru, India.

Key Responsibilities

Manage complex environmental compliance and reporting requirements, acting as subject matter expert for regulatory programs

Collect, validate, and analyze air quality and toxics data from various monitoring systems and sources

Interpret and convey environmental regulations concisely to multiple work groups, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Engage effectively with all business functions (e.g., Operations, Facility Engineering, Small-Major Capital Projects, Legal)

Ensure all reporting, recordkeeping, and training requirements are met within the assigned area of environmental responsibility

Provide environmental reviews for the Management of Change (MOC) process and participate in the Environmental Risk Management Process (ERMP)

Manage emissions reporting for Annual Emissions Reporting regulations and other internal and external air emissions reporting

Monitor changes in air quality and toxic regulations and ensure reporting protocols are updated as necessary

Monitor and compile data on chemical usage, storage and emissions from industrial processes to ensure accuracy in TRI reporting

Prepare annual TRI reports for submittal to applicable local, state and federal regulatory agencies

Identify potential non-compliance issues related to toxic chemical release and develop corrective action plans to mitigate risk. Perform benchmarking and year over year analysis

Conduct internal assurance activities of air quality data to verify the accuracy and completeness of TRI and air emissions reports. Ensure compliance with reporting procedures and company policy

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field

Strong understanding of air quality regulations

Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, Access, PowerBi or specialized environmental reporting software

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets

Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data accurately

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders
