Versar Global Solutions, Inc. (VGS) is currently in search of an Aircraft Marshaller to provide support to the United States Navy and other government entities at Comalapa Air Base located in El Salvador, Central America. This role will fall under the Base Operations Support Contract.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Air Marshaller serves an essential role at the Cooperative Security Location. This position requires individuals with exceptional communication skills, coupled with a strong sense of accountability. As an aircraft marshaller, their primary duty is to guide an aircraft to its assigned parking location while ensuring its safe and secure positioning on the tarmac. The task involves utilizing hand signals and sometimes communicating through radio with the pilot in the cockpit or air traffic control in the control tower.
Effective and clear communications is paramount for a successful marshalling operation as it guides the pilot around potential obstacles to reach the designated area. In certain situations, the Marshaller may also assume responsibility for driving a "follow-me" vehicle to navigate an aircraft to its intended destination.
Apart from guiding the aircraft to its designated parking spot, the task of aircraft marshalling encompasses a myriad of other crucial responsibilities. These include conducting meticulous pre-flight checks, ensuring proper fueling of the aircraft, inspecting for any potential foreign object debris that may pose a threat, and scrutinizing for any underlying damage or maintenance concerns. Moreover, it is imperative for a Marshaller to keep abreast with pertinent environmental factors such as weather conditions or runway closures which could potentially impede efficient aircraft operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the safe movement of aircraft on the ground, to include overseeing taxiing procedures to and from runways, properly guiding aircraft to designated position for parking, and positioning them for takeoff and landing.Effectively communicates instructions to pilots, ground crew members, and other personnel through standardized hand signals. Must possess efficient radio communication skills, utilizing radio equipment to convey specific instructions and coordinating movements with pilots and air traffic control as applicable.Adheres to safety protocols and enforces aviation regulations and airport rules. Knowledge of various types of aircraft. Familiarity with sizes, configurations, and unique characteristics to allow for efficient guidance when positioning different types of aircraft during ground movements.Ensures materials, equipment, and transportation is provided to meet Airfield Services for CSL COMALAPA, El Salvador in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), instructions, and directives as prescribed in the BOS Contract Coordinates “fleet services” (i.e., chemical toilet, potable water, ice) for aircraft transiting through the CSL.Performs fireguard duties during all aircraft fuel servicing operations. Coordinates with local companies to provide “fleet services”.Removes and stores hazardous materials generated during the aircraft servicing process.Ensures hazardous materials are stored in appropriate containers (as approved by the Contracting Officer) at the CSL and disposed of in accordance with the PAE Safety Program. Removes static grounding wire, wheel chocks, and other support equipment, as requiredMarshal aircraft from the parking area. For U.S.NAVY aircraft, departure services will be for final departure; all other aircraft will receive this service for all flights.Perform mechanical sweeping of the ramp and apron, twice a month. Perform daily inspections of the CSL Ramp and Taxiway areas. Maintain and repair all Ramp and Taxiways, including taxiway lights and tie-down points. All markings shall be repaired in accordance with approved replacement materials and returned to new appearance.Meet with the Operations Manager, to ensure continuity of information and implementation of new procedures Accomplish duties, as directed by VERSAR management, pursuant to mission accomplishment, customer satisfaction, and the posturing for the continuation of the BOS-CSL contract. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or aviation-related training is a plus).Prior experience as an Aircraft Marshaller is advantageous.Knowledge of aviation safety regulations and airport rules is a plus.Knowledge of using standardized hand signals for aircraft marshalling is a plus.Effective communication skills and the ability to operate radio communication equipment.Attention to detail and strong situational awareness.Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations, especially during emergencies.Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety protocols and procedures.Flexibility in working hours, this role involves shift work and irregular hours.Must possess a valid / current Salvadoran issued Driver’s LicenseMust be able to successfully complete and pass a drug and alcohol test. Must be able to successfully pass a police and an American Embassy background check.Must have a safe driving record, as defined by corporate policy, to operate corporate and US Government vehicles.
