• Work safely. Adhere to all company and regulatory EH&S policies and procedures. Look for safety issues and notify leadership of all safety concerns.
• Adhere to all Company 6-S initiatives and policies.
• Follow all manufacturing and technical work instructions for casting system operations.
• Operate computerized control panel for continuous caster system according to caster manual and monitor system for various parameters, such as: Alloy type, Withdraw velocity, Withdraw distance, Withdraw-to-backstroke dwell, Backstroke distance, Backstroke dwell, Mold Temperature Hi and Low settings, and Water Temperature Delta Hi and Low settings.
• Evaluate equipment, perform or direct repairs to assure all equipment is maintained in proper working condition.
• Prepare caster, tundish and other equipment for casting including removing metal build up.
• Trouble-shoot and assist with repairs.
• Record data on log sheets.
• Record process information and make appropriate entries into GLOVIA.
• Provide input for ordering supplies and tooling.
• Maintain good housekeeping – general cleaning, sweeping, emptying trash hoppers.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Area Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience
High School graduate, GED, or equivalent required.
Advanced education classes in math and/or science preferred.
Foundry or previous manufacturing work experience in a related occupation preferred.
Other Qualifications
• Able to operate a powered industrial truck.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to physically work in an extreme heat stress environment with exposure to molten metal, dust and fumes and ability to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment required for the position.
• Must be physically capable of performing heavy manual duties, operate a variety of machinery and equipment and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Decision making ability under stressful / adverse conditions.
• Must be able to perform computer functions.
• Must be able to read work instructions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to work overtime without prior notice.
• Ability to continuously stand for 8+ hours, twist, and bend.
• Ability to get on and off forklift or other mobile equipment.
• Regularly lift 35 lbs.
