Department Summary:
The Airborne Battle Management and Command and Control (ABMC2) department is seeking a group leader to join our energetic and diverse team of system, electrical, and software engineers and global flight operations domain analysts in assisting our sponsors with their most critical mission problems. In the BMC2 area, we are assisting our U.S. and foreign partners on major upgrades to enhance effectiveness of their airborne platforms (e.g., E-3/E-7) in a contested environment to gain and retain air superiority. In our Global Flight Operations program, we do impact assessments and develop approaches to proactively improve the integration of Civil Aviation and Military operations. One of our major technology thrusts is enhancements to enable the Air Force’s Agile Combat Employment through cutting edge improvements in deploy ability of electronic systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will serve as the Group Leader for the Airborne BMC2 System Integration group. The selected candidate will actively work as part of the Department’s leadership team, to support and craft the organization’s strategic direction, identify new opportunities and initiatives, and lead related activities. Candidates should have a track record of leading people, thinking and acting innovatively, and collaborating across boundaries.
As a Group Leader, the successful candidate will be the Direct Supervisor for nominally 8 assigned staff and interns, providing technical support, conducting regular performance and development conversations, staff advocacy and recognition, and communication with Project/Task Leads on work assignments and performance.
Partnering with Project Leaders to identify appropriate project opportunities where staff can leverage skills they have and continue to develop new skills.Helping their staff craft impactful goals that will challenge them to focus on forward movement that has an impact.Working to ensure their staff contribute to and are accountable for sponsor mission outcomes, and maximize employee potential, motivation, and engagement.Ensuring that their staff are constantly involved in project work and learning opportunities that align with career aspirations and development plans.Soliciting and providing regular feedback to employee(s) to help them grow.Managing challenging interpersonal dynamics, and performance concerns amongst employees in their Group, their colleagues, and the project leaders they support.Being the first‐line supervisor and the primary point of contact on human resources matters for the employees in their Group (to include participating in the annual performance and compensation cycles for their employees by assessing performance and recommending salary adjustments and promotions).Basic Qualifications:
