Aircraft Electrician (Instruments)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION\n

Aircraft Mechanic, Electricians (Instrument) troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, and calibrate, instruments of multiple component design. The items serviced at this level are interdependent electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and\/or electronic units and devices that detect, measure, record, indicate or regulate velocity, pressure, displacement, weight, temperature, airspeed, torque, resistance, voltage, and similar values and relationships. This job is at a Depot Level repair facility performing maintenance on aircraft equipment, which include, but not limited to, F\/A-18, E-2\/C-2, H-1, F-35 AND V-22. Military aviation experience is a plus.\n

DUTIES\n\nRepair and maintain integrated groupings of equipment such as utility pneumatic controllers, transmitters, and cumulators; navigational, gyroscopic, and accelerometer units; or fuel quantity and flow, pressure, temperature, altitude, speed, and air flow indicating devices.\nPerform pretests to determine the extent and location of malfunctions and to isolate defective components. \nUse test equipment such as volt-ohm meters, transistor testers, digital meters, oscilloscopes, bearing analyzers, phase and null meters, galvanometers, and computerized automatic test equipment.\nHave knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and\/or hydraulic principles and theory.\nTroubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, and calibrate instruments and equipment encompassing electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and\/or pneumatic subassemblies, components, and related devices such as transmitters, gyroscopes, accelerometers, indicators, servomechanisms, and amplifiers. \nWork from technical publications containing operating instructions, theory of operation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists. Follow schematics, blueprints, and specifications covering individual components, and test and calibrate components in accordance with specific performance instructions.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent\nMust have at least three (3) years of relevant experience as an Instruments Worker\/Technician\/Mechanic.\nAircraft Electrician (with military experience) preferred.\nAbility to read blue prints, schematics, engineering and manufacturer specifications.\nUse of various types of equipment to include volt-ohm meters, transistor testers, digital meters, oscilloscopes, bearing analyzers, phase and null meters, galvanometers, and computerized automatic test equipment.\nMust be a US Citizen.\nMust have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.\nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment and post offer substance abuse testing.\n\n

Functional Requirements:\n\nMust be able to walk, stand, crawl, kneel and bend on level and\/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.\nMust be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.\nMust be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, pull over hand, push, reach or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow\/knee and reach above\/below shoulders.\nMay be required to lift up to 44 pounds and heavy, moderate carrying up to 44 pounds.\nMay be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials\/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.\nMust be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales with or without corrective lens.\nMust be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.\nMust be able to distinguish color, shades of color and judge three-dimensional depth.\nMay be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, crane, truck, tractor, etc.\n\n

Environmental Factors:\n\nWork in an inside\/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.\nExcessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.\nEnvironmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy\nWorking on slippery or uneven surfaces\nWorking closely with others or working alone\nPossible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.\n\n
