Summary This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, Position Description Number PDD0417000, and is part of the SC AASF, South Carolina Army National Guard. Responsibilities This position is located in the Component Repair Shop of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). The purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and test aircraft engines. Work involves the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, modification and testing of conventional, modified, and experimental aircraft engines, their components, assemblies, and subassemblies. It also covers work involving engine accessories such as starters, generators, anti-icers, and fuel control devices when such assignments are incidental to work on the completed engine. Works also involves the review of engine/component records to determine cause of failure and the extent of disassembly and repair required in returning engine and/or component to operational condition. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 & 2. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.
