Responsibilities A WG-8852-8/10, AIRCRAFT MECHANIC: Performs overall maintenance, servicing, cleaning, and record keeping for all nonpowered AGE equipment. Nonpowered AGE includes equipment such as stands, ladders, hydraulic jacks, fuel bowsers, towbars, and hydraulic and oil servicing carts; to include towing vehicles and wheel movers. Accomplishes intermediate and organizational level maintenance on aircraft dual rail and aerial delivery systems to include removal, replacement, overhaul, adjustment and installation. Inventories, controls, stores, and maintains DD Form 780 and alternate mission equipment for assigned aircraft. Maintains assigned vehicles, oxygen, and nitrogen carts. Accomplishes and reviews all nonpowered AGE and DD Form 780 equipment to assigned equipment and personnel. May be required to assist aircraft mechanics in flightline/inspection maintenance activities. Complies with safety, fire, security and housekeeping regulations. Assures that material and equipment are properly safely stored, protected, and maintained. Prepares for, and participates in, various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections; to include mobility and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting; aircraft fire, crash, and rescue; security guard; snow removal; load/unload munitions; operate heavy equipment; maintain facilities and equipment; or serve as a member of a natural disasters or civil emergencies team. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: E1-E5 Compatible Military Assignments: 2A5X4 - Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the AFSC to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain AFSC within 1 year of appointment action. - Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. - Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. - Must maintain membership in the WA Air National Guard for continued employment. - Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. - This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. - Position requires ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. - May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. - The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-08Must have at least 12 months experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems. WG-10Must have at least 18 months of experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. Education Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Not Applicable.
