Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D0483000, within the AASF of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of the position is the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10, you will: Participate in various types of readiness evaluations Perform inspection, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft utilizing various testing equipment Observe and ensure compliance with standard procedures and applicable technical publications Provide data for aircraft maintenance historical records maintenance data, collection, and man-hour accounting Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. Specialized Experience: Have at least 12 months of experience or training installing, adjusting, and troubleshooting in the following areas: Testing various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft Coordinating the work of other mechanics and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion Ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfRegistration.aspx).
