Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1400000, D1366000, D1525000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, Forbes AFB, KS, Kansas National Guard. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-08/10/12, you will perform overall maintenance, servicing, cleaning, and record keeping for all nonpowered AGE equipment. Nonpowered AGE includes equipment such as stands, ladders, hydraulic jacks, fuel bowsers, towbars, and hydraulic and oil servicing carts; to include towing vehicles and wheel movers. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling. Inspects and performs functional checks such as landing gear retraction and operation checks on hydraulic, electrical, pressurization, lubrication, de-icing, vacuum, induction, and exhaust systems. Installs equipment such as external tanks, tow reels, hoists, and pylons. Direct, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft. Work is performed in complex working conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of subordinate aircraft mechanics. Coordinate and oversee the work of journey level workers in other trades working simultaneously on the assigned aircraft. Review, train and prepare to perform battle damage assessment/repair. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E1 through E5 Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC: 2AXXX GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG 08:Must have experience or training in the use of common hand tools to make mechanical repairs; Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components, and accessories with detailed guidance; Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies, and components, e.g., such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing, and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems. WG10: Must have experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; Ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and reassembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. WG12: Must have experience performing duties as a dedicated crew chief; Experience performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; Experience coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; Experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
