This position is located in Iwakuni, Japan.
Assists the corrosion control lead in directing the maintenance activities of assigned personnel and in training and directing shop personnel, including the wash rack. Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
Strips, treats, and paints aircraft and parts IAW the requirements specified in applicable technical manuals.Applies corrosion treatment and removes corrosion by chemical and mechanical means.Performs both on and off equipment maintenance.Performs aircraft washPerforms Outer Mold Line (OML) inspections, coating system repair, and corrosion control inspections.Performs tasks with minimum supervision.Detects and treats corrosion.Assists in ordering supplies and maintaining bench stock levels.Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety always.Wears the appropriate safety equipment for corrosion treatment and painting operations.Conducts on-the-job and proficiency training.Annotates maintenance action in aircraft records and required forms and is knowledgeable in ALIS documentation.Operates portable fire-fighting equipment.Disposes of spent chemical/hazardous waste IAW regulations and company policies.May be selected to perform special certifications including Red X inspections.In coordination with the section supervisor and the training specialist, provides on-the-job training of employees and evaluation of employee qualifications.Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed.Receives cross-utilization training (CUT) and is qualified to perform those maintenance tasks.Shall perform other duties as directed to include TDY and travel.Education
· High school diploma or the equivalent is required.Specialized related courses are required.Experience
An excellent working knowledge of corrosion treatment and prevention methods is required. Must have knowledge of base, federal, and company procedures for the handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.A minimum of (2) years recent experience in 5th generation fighter aircraft structures repair and corrosion control.Completion of a formal corrosion control school or equivalent are required.Must possess good communication skills and leadership ability.Experience in ALIS maintenance documentation highly desirable.Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment.Must obtain all certifications required to perform the job requirements.Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line drivers’ license. Must have current Secret security clearance.Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
