Aircraft Mechanic II (Tool and Die)

Responsibilities What You'll Do: V2X is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II / Tool and Die. The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of aircraft Computer Numeric Control (CNC), tool & die/machining/welding repair, and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience. An aircraft tool & die/machinist/welder or equivalent is required and shall be able to read, interpret drawings, accomplish repairs, and manufacture parts from engineering drawings or dispositions. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications, Computer Numeric Control (CNC) tool & die/machining/welding repair with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience. This mechanic receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, shall occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. Provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). May require specialization in sheet metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines Work will be accomplished on and off aircraft depending on specific requirements. Aircraft Mechanic Level 2 (AM-II) shall possess a level of experience necessary to perform maintenance and inspect all assigned C-130 variants and components assigned to AFSOC both on- and off-aircraft. AMII Mechanics shall be able to provide inspector expertise and perform responsibilities of an AMII and lower levels of competency described in DOL standards for the aircraft mechanic series. Inspectors shall be qualified to inspect/clear aircraft discrepancy symbols to include Red X discrepancies and inspect/sign all equipment condition tags. Other duties as assigned. Must be able to support aircraft mechanics as required on all tasks on- and off-aircraft. Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day. Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances. May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools. Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth. Will be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift. Expected to work in high heat or extreme cold temperatures for extended periods of time. May operate in austere CONUS and OCONUS locations. Ability to work in confined spaces. Inspect all assigned C-130 variants. Inspect components assigned to AFSOC both on-aircraft and off-aircraft. Provide inspector expertise and perform responsibilities of an AMII and lower levels of competency described in DOL standards for the aircraft mechanic series. Structural /Sheetmetal repairs/fabrication Airplane general taskings i.e., tow, jack, crib. Assisting other Mechanics in daily tasks Load Test / Assist in load testing critical lifting devices for Airforce (AFSOC) assets. Qualifications Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience: Trained on the proper use, inspection, and wear of personal protective clothing and equipment is required. Knowledge of technical publications, Computer Numeric Control (CNC) tool & die/machining/welding repair with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience. Preferred 3 years of direct experience with maintenance on the C-130H/J Must meet all AM-II Department of Labor (DOL) description requirements and have technical knowledge of aircraft inspection and maintenance procedures. Other Requirements: Public Trust/NACI (Tier 1) U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system. Desired Qualifications: Experience: Working knowledge of Computer Numeric Control (CNC). Experience with SolidWorks/ Computer Aided Design(CAD). Qualified or able to qualify as an aviation welder. Experience with or equivalent to USAF Skill Level 7 as C-130 Systems Maintenance. Skills & Technology Used: Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving: Possesses both analytical and interpersonal skills. Good problem solving and organizational skills/techniques. Effective Communicator: English language skills to communicate. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Florida Salary: $68, 224.00 The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation for locations in the Okaloosa county within the state of Florida.
