ACET is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic III in our Norfolk, VA location.  

 

Advanced Level Aircraft Mechanical and Structural Technician typically working at advanced or senior sheet metal and mechanical technician level, documenting removed components part and serial numbers in logbooks, reading technical data, engineering drawings / blueprints along with witnessing and documenting torque data.  This technician performs larger scale modifications on the aircraft such as cutting or modifying larger scale existing structure to include location and installation of antennas, locating structural webs and stringers, cutting large holes in aircraft skins and frames, working directly with engineering teams on proto-types, validations and verification installs, squadron maintenance control and back shops and government field support teams (FST).  Will work with and guide Level II technicians on aircraft open up / close ups to involve removal of cabin soundproofing, floor boards, air ducts, flight control rods, hydraulics and fuel systems when required.   Typical tools used are drills, grinders, micrometers, calipers, sheet metal breaks and sheers, hole saws, dial indicators and acting as quality control oversite.

 

 

Requirements:

Must have eight (8) years' structural experience on H60 aircraft or similar rotary wing aircraft.Able to perform DEPOT level structural aircraft maintenance functions, provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.Skilled/qualified in Naval Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services.Able to utilize blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and manufacturers' drawings and sketches in the performance of assigned duties.Must be able to demonstrate basic sheet metal functions to include but not limited to drilling, close tolerance hole reaming, riveting, installing hi-locks, huck-bolt and cherry max fasteners, making and installing panels, skin patches and installing chin bubbles.Able to read and write, interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, directives, guides and forms used on the job.Perform troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems.Must be able to demonstrate an operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, and component parts.Must be able to detect, prevent and treat corrosion.Knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance.Able to complete maintenance documentation accurately as required by job assignment.Must provide own basic hand toolsMust be able to pass drug test and fit for work physical as requiredMust be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs.Travel may be required Able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
