AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32)
Summary This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. This National Guard position is an Indefinite/Permanent (may retain current tenure if on-board with agency) WG-8852-10 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0483000 and is part of the MO Army Aviation Support Facility Ft Leonard Wood. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW. Responsibilities Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces. Installs, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies. Conducts ground functional tests of all aircraft systems. Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft, performs inspections prior to takeoff. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion). Maximum Military Grade - SSG (E-6) Enlisted - CMF 15, 91, 92 or 94 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess general experience, education or training which has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience in the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair and ground testing of assemblies, systems and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Experience repairing, rebuilding, or overhauling aircraft systems and major components using the tools of the trade; skill to align, adjust and rig systems and controls after the replacement of parts, components and major repairs; operate a variety of measurement, test and diagnostic equipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft; inspect the full range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyze existing or foreseeing problems and recommend corrective action; and use a wide variety of technical publications to include complex schematics and specifications. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
