AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32)
Summary These are National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Positions. These National Guard positions are Indefinite with Right to Convert WG-8852-10 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0100000 and is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. These are bargaining positions. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW. Responsibilities Performs all phases of the repair and reclamation process for crashed or damaged aircraft utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Maintains and stores the special equipment identified and assigned to the crash recovery mission. Serves on the flight control team and may coordinate team functions. Participates in flight crew debriefing, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing components as required. Advises on and participates in the removal, rigging, and replacement of flight control surfaces, portable buffet and lavatory units. Utilizes a wide variety of gauges, instruments and tools such as bead breakers, micrometers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, torque wrenches, tension meters, weight and balance testers, and calipers. Overhaul, rig and install major airframe components. Performs intermediate level maintenance on aircraft wheel and tires and may also accomplish organizational maintenance such as wheel and tire and brake changes. When a supply point for build-up assets is established in the shop, will insure DIFM assets processing and procedures are accomplished according, to applicable directives. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion). Maximum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6) Minimum Military Grade - A1C (E-3) Enlisted - AFSC 2AXXX GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have general experience, education or training which has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications, and skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months of specialized experience in repairing, rebuilding or overhauling B-2, aircraft systems and major components using the tools of the trade; experience aligning, adjusting and rigging systems and controls after the replacement of parts, components and major repairs; operate a variety of measurement, test and diagnostic equipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft; inspect the full range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyze existing or foreseeing problems and recommend corrective action; and use a wide variety of technical publications to include complex schematics and specifications. Must currently possess or have held AFSC 2AXXX. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
