AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER
Summary This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER(Egress), Position Description Number D1898P01 and is part of the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER, WL-6652-10, this position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Aircraft Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Egress Element. The primary purpose of this position is to lead subordinates in the performance of Aircrew Egress systems maintenance. In addition, duties include journey level work, which involve the inspection, repairing, modifying, overhauling, maintaining, installing/removing, troubleshooting, and analyzing performance of aircraft ordnance systems. (1) Provides direction to resolve problems on aircraft Egress systems. Leads Aircrew Egress System Mechanics in diagnosing malfunctions, troubleshooting, and evaluating aircraft Egress systems to determine the disassembly necessary for repair or replacement of parts. (2) Monitors work of assigned personnel, sets the work pace, conveys work assignments, and ensures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Coordinates and works with mechanics and specialists performing journey level work. (3) Ensures assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Ensures that all safety, housekeeping, security, and other environmental rules and procedures are followed in the shop and the flight line. (4) Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements. (5) Routinely works with and alongside journey-level counterparts. (6) Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Areas of Consideration: Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG. Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG. Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANG. Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard. Area 5 - US Citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ANG. GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in troubleshooting, installing, modifying, repairing, and adjusting a variety of aircraft ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching equipment. The work requires a knowledge of aircraft ordnance systems, the ability to recognize and determine the best method to correct malfunctions, and the ability to use test equipment and measuring devices common to the occupation. WG - Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks. WG-09 and above - Must have 24 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience demonstrating the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related to the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to guide others in work related directly to this occupational series.
