Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (KC-135), Position Description Number D1367000 and is part of the HI 154 MXS, National Guard. LOCATION: 154th Maintenance Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii Responsibilities SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipment. Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems. Performs installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Performs organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic, phase time, calendar, unscheduled, and special inspection. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months of experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to sit, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in cramped, tiring, uncomfortable positions. Subject to high intensity and higher frequency sounds that impose a physical burden. May be required to lift and/or push heavy equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to approximately 100 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather; on icy, wet, and slippery ramps; aircraft surfaces and work stands; and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces; such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps, engine noise, heat blast, intake suction; rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints, and solvents. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709. Other Requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard. c. Current T32 Technicians who have permanent tenure will occupy this position as a Temporary Promotion Year to Year not to exceed 5 years. Temporary promotion may be converted to a Permanent Promotion without further competition if the position becomes available. Selectee may return to his/her former graded position when the Temporary Promotion is no longer needed and may be effected at any time without adverse action procedures. l. T5 Employees with permanent tenure will lose their permanent status if selected and will be converted to T5/T32 Indefinite. If selected Indefinite tenure appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice. Indefinite tenure appointments will be eligible for health and life insurance coverage and will be covered under a retirement system. m. New Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite tenure appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite tenure appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice. Indefinite tenure appointments will be eligible for health and life insurance coverage and will be covered under a retirement system.
