Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician (Trainee) to join our team based in Columbus, MS.

You will be in training of Aircraft Technician B - Sheetmetal to perform work on assigned aircraft, assemblies, and parts in the sheetmetal area.

On the eastern border of Mississippi you’ll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It’s here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your challenges:

Trainee:  70%

Read detailed plans and diagrams and inspect and measure parts prior to assembly, making sure parts are free of defects and are the right size.Install Sheetmetal parts and assemblies in aircraft; assure that installations are attached without endangering aircraft structure or systems operations and functions.Cut, grind, or trim parts to fit properly.Use tools, such as drills, grinders, and rivet guns to assemble helicopters and parts.Fitting and assembling skins, frames, and other components. Work will consist of drilling, fitting, and riveting of the many sub-assemblies of the helicopter, including such items as tail booms and stabilizersLearn and follow Engineering Instructions and company polices

Trainee:  20%

Perform layout of sheet parts by measuring and marking in preparation for cutting and forming operationsCut raw materials allowing for bend requirements, flanges, and crimping.Bolt, rivet, or chemically bond parts togetherFollow all OSHA safety and environmental regulations

Trainee Tech:  10%

Make adjustments or replace parts when neededAssist in the development of patterns or templates to simplify manufacturing processes and to assure proper dimensionsWork with inspectors to run tests to determine whether the parts are assembled properlyCut, file, drill, and ream metal, plastic, and rubber sections to prepare them for fasteningBe able to join sections by drilling, bolting, and clamping units together
