Aircraft Survival and Flight Equipment Repairer
Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Cavazos West (Rotary Wing), located at Fort Cavazos, Texas Responsibilities Perform modifications to Night Vision Goggles based on work orders. Inspect and repair flight survival equipment. Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment. Perform operational checks on equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Aircraft Survival and Flight Equipment Repairer ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: inspecting and cleaning aircraft survival equipment, performing limited repairs on equipment, receiving, storing and issuing equipment, and a variety of less complex maintenance functions. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing 10-50 pounds. May be required to perform extensive standing, stooping, bending and working in cramped positions while inspecting and repairing equipment on an aircraft. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. The majority of the work is performed inside on work benches or in a storage area. Occasionally, the work may be performed in areas where dirt, drafts, noise, and fumes may be present. Works around pyrotechnics. May be subject to burns, cuts, and abrasions while working on various types of ALSE equipment. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
