**This position is located outside of the United States in Okinawa, Japan.
Performs aircraft corrosion control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch up painting. Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components for repaint.
Accomplishes all actions following orders and directions of higher-grade corrosion control personnel.Strips, pre-treats, and paints Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), aircraft components, and parts.Assists in painting complete aircraft.Applies corrosion treatment as directed and removes corrosion by chemical and mechanical means.Assists in inspecting aircraft and equipment for corrosion during scheduled and unscheduled inspections.Treats corrosion.Operates the plastic media blast booth to strip aircraft and aircraft components.Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components associated with equipment in the corrosion control shop.Annotates maintenance action in aircraft records and required forms and is knowledgeable in Maintenance Data Documentation (MDD) systems.Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety always.Disposes of spent chemical/hazardous waste IAW regulations and company policies.Operates and positions AGE equipment.Tows aircraft associated with the corrosion control process.Operates portable fire-fighting equipment.May be assigned to maintain TO files, bench stock, shop stock, CTKs, or hazardous waste areas.Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed.Receives cross-utilization training (CUT) and is qualified to perform those maintenance tasks.Shall perform other duties as directed to include TDY and travel.Education
High school diploma or the equivalent is required.Must have completed the corrosion control Career Development Course or equivalent.Experience
Must have minimum of one (1) year recent experience in an aircraft corrosion control shop as a corrosion control assistant or equivalent.Must be knowledgeable of corrosion control maintenance publications, safety procedures, and policies.Must have a working knowledge of hand tools associated with corrosion control and specialized corrosion control equipment.Must have had prior experience or training in preparation and painting techniques.
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment.Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driver’s license.Must have current Secret security clearance.Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
