Role Overview:
The primary purpose of the armed ANG Special Deputy Security Chief is to serve in support of the 181st Intelligence Wing, Indiana Air National Guard. The incumbent serves as overall manager of state special deputies and performs aerospace weapons systems security: defends and protects Air National Guard installation, personnel, equipment, and facilities: and maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and provides security of property and personnel. Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
+ Oversee the day-to-day operations of all airfield deputies.
+ Act as a liaison between the state deputies and the military police personnel.
+ Assist with establishing and managing department budgets.
+ Apprehend and detain violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turn them over to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
+ Provide public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, and enforcing motor vehicle access to the installation.
+ Monitor traffic to ensure motorists observe traffic regulations and exhibit safe driving procedures including sobriety checks points.
+ Investigate and report potential fire and accident hazards using the proper protocol.
+ Dispatch and coordinate with the appropriate personnel and equipment to meet emergency situations.
+ Properly receive and secure information and items to be used for evidence and record into appropriate information systems.
+ Monitor and operate the emergency control center which includes answering 911 calls, maintaining records, and preparing shift reports.
+ Responsible for ensuring the proper protocols for individuals entering the base for base entry control.
+ Responsible for defending the installation personnel, equipment, and resources from hostile ground attacks as part of the Security Response Team.
+ Participate in training, exercises, and evaluations to increase proficiency and update skills.
+ Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
+ Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
+ Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:
+ Must be at least 21 years of age.
+ Must have at least five (5) years of Airfield Deputy experience.
+ Must never have been convicted by civilian or military court except for minor traffic violations or similar infractions.
+ Must have 2-years of military or civilian law enforcement/security experience; substitution: accredited college training may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis; or have completed Air Force Security Forces Apprentice School.
+ Must obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or a National Agency Check with Law and Credit (T-3) and/or Secret Security Clearance as determined by the base command.
+ Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and military driver’s license.
+ Ability to work shifts, overtime, and weekends, as required.
+ Perform specialized techniques, methods, and procedures to execute search and apprehension; counter terrorist operations, or counter violence posing a threat to public safety.
+ Ability to properly and effectively wear or use personal protective equipment, including that used to prevent exposure to chemical, biological, or radiological agents.
+ Must perform physically demanding work in hot and humid (up to 100 percent humidity) atmosphere while wearing duty equipment and/or personal protective equipment.
+ Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
+ Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
+ Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
You must satisfy the following requirement to continue employment:
+ Must successfully complete initial and recurring in-service training requirements as established by the local County Sheriff and the Security Forces Commander to ensure weapons qualifications, proficiency in guard skills, and remain current in state and federal doctrine.
+ Complete initial/annual CPR recertification and First Aid.
+ Take and pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT) and the physical agility test to perform the essential functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
