Group/Division

The ICOS Vision Systems division focuses on the backend of the line semiconductor industry providing fully automated tools to inspect and sort, finished integrated circuit packages. For more than 15 years, ICOS has been a market leader with tray-to-tray and tray-to-tape inspection and sorting tools found in the production facilities of all major chipmakers in the world. Our market-leading technology and superior customer service requires strong talent in optics, machine control, algorithms and applications within our engineering teams. The ICOS division headquarters are in Leuven, Belgium with additional engineering and manufacturing operations in Singapore and Shenzhen (China).

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Algorithm Engineer

Be part of the team that provides the “Vision Engine” serving as the core processing unit for all inspection tools. By using groundbreaking technology both in hardware and software we can deliver the best performing algorithm and applications to all our customers. Since a few years we are also building up expertise within machine learning to further improve our capabilities to solve ambitious customer problems.
 

Job Description:

You will become responsible to work out new differentiating vision solutions running on our tools. Combining sophisticated software algorithms with embedded and off the shelf hardware to make a unique product. The growing need for differentiating visual inspection solutions in the high-end markets we serve will allow you to further grow within this position, so you can become an authority and work on the most ambitious programs.
 

Your work involves:

Crafting and developing software for new inspection challenges based on requirements and available information from the customer.Collaborating with other software teams on how new inspection flows can easily be validated and integrated in our inspection machines.Support our field engineers and applications department with the whole process flow of working with the vision system and all our applications.Occasional travel to connect with customers and to have firsthand insights.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:

Having a good understanding of machine vision processes and algorithm empowers you to support our customers to help solving their sophisticated and future challenges.

Master’s degree in engineering or Computer Science. Having 2 to 3 years’ experience is a surplus but not a requirement. We mainly need your passion for technology, drive to make things work and learn every single day.Knowledge of object-oriented programming and practical hands-on C/C++ experience. Experience with Python for deep learning is a plus.Eager to learn about new trends in hardware and in software development. A passion for algorithms and using mathematics to solve real world problems. Working with Linux and experimenting with new frameworks and Computer Vision Packages.Strong communication and analytical skills.Proficient in English.
