2. The role
Nighttime Supervisors form an important part of ALPADIA’s commitment towards safeguarding our students and ensuring their well-being and safety is our top responsibility. The role will often involve long hours and relative inactivity, as you monitor the accommodation at nighttime when students should be asleep. However, it is important to be diligent in this duty, keeping an ear out for any disquiet and checking all entry and exit points to the building on a regular basis.
3. Key responsibilities
Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our care.
Assisting with the Curfew procedure of ensuring students are in their bedrooms at 22:30pm
Patrolling the site at regular intervals to ensure that the residence is secure, and the students are safe.
Assisting with late night arrival check-ins and departures of students at weekends
Liaising closely with Camp Manager with regards to any security concerns.
Ensuring that all ALPADIA rules, procedures and directives are understood and adhered to in full.
Monitoring the whereabouts of students on site, ensuring separation of genders, and preventing nighttime wandering out of rooms and buildings.
Ensuring the health and safety, welfare, and discipline of students, anticipating discrimination, bullying, and damage.
Taking responsibility for the school buildings e.g. locking up, lights off, etc.
Completing a nightly report and presenting this to the Camp Manager each morning.
Ensuring you are fully familiar and ready to enact Alpadia’s Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Anti-Bullying, and any other relevant policies.
Dealing with all other reasonable requests as decided by the Camp Manager.
4. Skills
Are always courteous and polite at all times with everyone.
Do not argue with your colleagues in front of students or their Leaders.
Do not delegate your duties to other people.
Work as a team.
Use your common sense to solve unforeseeable problems.
Do not drink alcohol or smoke in front of the students.
Keep a positive attitude even if something goes wrong.
Make students and Group Leaders understand the importance of being punctual at all times.
Do not joke about sexual or personal matters with students.
Be careful of your body language, and to always think what your behavior could look like to a suspicious adult.
Being flexible and adaptable to change
Inform the Camp Manager if you have a problem with a student or if anything comes to light
5. The timetable
The role is likely to be over 5 nights a week, though this can be increased or decreased at the discretion of the Camp Manager. Working times will typically be between 10pm and 6am though again these may vary depending on the needs of the camp.
6. Pre-Employment Checks
As our roles involve the pastoral care and safeguarding of junior students our employment offers are conditional upon satisfactory completion of the relevant nation’s statutory and regulatory pre-employment vetting procedures.
