Alternate Project Radiation Safety Officer

**Job Summary:**
APTIM is seeking an experienced Radiological Control/ Health Physics professional who can support radiological field operations as the Radiological Control Supervisor/ Alternate Project Radiation Safety Officer for the SM-1A Decommissioning and Dismantlement project in Fort Greely, AK. We are seeking an experienced individual who can effectively embrace the technical and operational challenges of high profile and critically important field level project support activities. Employee must be willing to travel to provide on-site support in Fort Greely, AK for a duration of approximately 3+ years followed by potential work at other APTIM projects. Travel compensation (e.g., per diem) and routine rotations home (e.g., monthly airfare reimbursement) assigned by project contract.
**General Responsibilities:**
+ Performs delegated duties as the on-site Alternate Project Radiation Safety Officer during Project Radiation Safety Officer's absence.
+ Carries out company's health physics and industrial hygiene policies and procedures on field project assignments.
+ Coordinates HPT/RCT assignments to align with the objectives of the project work schedule.
+ Maintains and operates radiation measuring equipment; assigns the conduct of project radiological control, surveys, and sampling. Evaluates/interprets survey and sample data; assist in the writing of detailed site-specific Radiological Work Permits and other radiological documents.
+ Provides instruction to others regarding radiological hazards.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Must have a minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a supervisor or manager of radiological control programs and personnel.
+ Must have a minimum of 5 years of documented hands-on experience performing radiological characterization/decontamination or equivalent support.
+ Must have verifiable Radiological Controls Technician training consistent with the requirements of any one or a combination of the following:
+ American National Standards Institute/American Nuclear Society, Standard N3.1 - 1993, or
+ American National Standard for Selection, Qualification and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants (reaffirmed 1999), or
+ National Certification with the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists, or
+ Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 835, Section 835.903 (DOE RCT Core training), or
+ Evidence of NAVSHIPS 389-0288, Radiological Controls for Shipyards or NAVSEA 389-0153, Radiological Controls, Article 108, Qualification, or
+ Two-Year Technical Degree in Health Physics or related field.
+ Must have current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification with current annual refreshers.
+ Must be able to gain medical qualification to wear respiratory equipment without limitations in support of project work objectives.
+ Must be able to perform work in modified level D and C PPE, including the wearing of respiratory protection.
+ Must be able to work in both office and construction site environments, including walking, standing, kneeling, climbing and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Must be able to work overtime as required.
+ Must be able to perform administrative functions utilizing standard offices suite products including Microsoft® Word, Excel and Access
+ Must be able to meet access and badging requirements at government facilities.
