Role description:
Arcadis Mobility team is seeking an Environmental Group Lead to deliver and manage environmental activities for Design-Build/Alternative Delivery projects – both working for public sector and private/contractor clients.
This individual must possess a technical depth of experience in overseeing activities related to development of NEPA documents, streamlining processes and working with design teams to mitigate environmental risks on federally funded projects. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex transportation improvements projects and manage the delivery of NEPA and Permitting responsibilities.
Role accountabilities:
Serve as Environmental Lead for Alternative Delivery (AD) Projects within the Mobility Design and Engineering (D&E) Group. Responsibility includes overseeing Environmental aspects of complex AD projects – both on owner-side and contractor-side projects for State DOT facilities. Oversee and mentor small group of Environmental Project Managers/NEPA Leads that will be assigned to the AD projects. Work with Project Managers and Project Directors to establish environmental permitting strategies to reduce project risk and expedite schedule. Collaborate with and oversee work performed by internal and external Environmental SMEs (NEPA, Ecological, Cultural, Air/Noise, Permits etc) to deliver Arcadis’ environmental scope of work. Help grow Environmental practice in rail/transit asset class by assessing current skill and personnel gap, evaluating accessible project pipeline and developing business case for a growth plan. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in planning, policy, a biological or physical science, or economics, engineering. 15+ years’ experience in serving as a seller-doer with State Departments of Transportation Experience in Design-Build Infrastructure projects. Through understanding of how various environmental disciplines including air, noise, ecology and cultural areas interact with each other and proposed designs. Interpersonal and client facing responsibilities will include excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations.Key Attributes
Proven success in delivering complex, schedule-constrained environmental projects – preferably Design Build and P3. Process oriented mindset. Self-Driven and motivated to mitigate risk exposure and be proactive in the entire permitting process. Understanding and experience with all levels of NEPA environmental documentation and FHWA compliance procedures. Must work well in a collaborative environment. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of environmental subject matter experts, designer, project managers and clients including public sector and private clientsDesired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and related project planning or niche discipline used in NEPA analysis. Proficiency with ProjectWise, Primavera6, and other software programs that provide value within the project management and planning contract contexts. Related experience with Departments of Transportation in the South/ Southeast/ Northeast. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $113933 - $193686. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
