Alternative Investment Regional Director (External Wholesaler), Independent Broker Dealer (IBD)

Job Description

The Alternative Investment Regional Director (External Wholesaler) is responsible for the execution of all sales, service, and marketing related activities in their region within the IBD channel. The products will include open-end alternative investment funds and traditional mutual funds. The Regional Director is responsible for directly managing major markets within their region with a client-centric, sales driven approach to the marketplace. The role includes developing territory business plans and acting as a key point of contact for financial advisors within the IBD channel to provide insights and solutions. The Regional Director’s performance is measured by gross fund flows, sales activity, diversification of gross fund flows, expansion of IBD relationships and broader team contribution to the National sales effort. Compensation is performance-based consisting of salary and annual bonus.

Locations: Los Angeles, San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a regional sales strategy consistent with the National sales goals with accountability for the overall performance of the region.Maintain and cultivate existing IBD relationships and aggressively expand new IBD relationships across the region.Implement territory business plans, generate leads, and actively seek new business opportunities within the IBD channel.Effectively manage the assigned territory, including tracking sales performance, identifying trends, and implementing strategies to improve results. Convey deep technical knowledge of the firm’s investment strategies and fund vehicles.Work effectively in a collaborative team environment by maintaining open communication with internal teams and external partners, providing timely updates and solutions to challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Finance, or related field.Minimum of 7 years of experience wholesaling with significant relationships with IBDsProven track record of successfully selling different types of alternative investment products, including open end funds that largely target accredited investor clients as well as private funds that target qualified purchaser clientsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.  Clearly and concisely explain complex concepts and articulate the rationale for decisions.High degree of self-motivation and professionalism, with a confident, assertive style and tenacity to deliver results.Desire to work in a team environment possessing strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Effectively partner with regional consultants (internal wholesalers) – including development and oversight.Strong ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.Excellent relationship building and conflict resolution skills.Series 7 and 63 licensed.Additional credentials preferred (CIMA, CAIA, CFA, etc.).

Travel:

Significant travel required.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
